First published in 2003, Rivages is now a cult book. Here, it is finally reissued. It thus includes around fifteen new photographs, particularly for the Conservatoire du Littoral. The ensemble has been the subject of a new, tighter selection, creating a dramaturgy that is not just stronger, but richer and more profound. As Harry Gruyaert confronts the meaning of his photographic approach with the horizon line, and his own Flemish culture, the photographer also renews our perception of the landscape with its subtle play of shadow and light, transparency and depth.
